MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxing legend Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is angry over insults that he has been hearing from the camp of unbeaten American Timothy Bradley Jr., his best friend and assistant trainer, Buboy Fernandez, said.
Pacquiao is currently in General Santos, where the first part of his training camp for his April 12 rematch against Bradley is being held.
Fernandez said Pacquiao has been pushing himself hard in training, and is even more motivated to defeat Bradley now after hearing insults from the other fighter’s camp.
“Galit na si Manny sa mga naririnig niya kaya besides winning back the (WBO welterweight) title, he also wants a sweeter revenge sa mga sinasabi ng camp ni Bradley,” Fernandez told Eddie Alinea of PhilBoxing.
Fernandez did not specify what they have been hearing from the Bradley camp, but Pacquiao may still be fired up from Bradley’s repeated assertions that the “Pacman” has lost his killer instinct after not going for the knockout against Brandon Rios in their match last November.
Fernandez said Bradley and his camp will come to regret their words.
“When he (Pacquiao) is mad, something bad is sure to happen to his rival,” said Fernandez. “Pati kami, galit din.”
Pacquiao enters another stage in his training camp this week with the arrival of chief trainer Freddie Roach, and Fernandez said they have done a good job of preparing Pacquiao for Roach’s rigorous training program.
“We did what we’re supposed to do – prepare Manny for an expected rigorous regimen that Coach Freddie will implement,” said Fernandez. “Manny is ready for whatever he will undergo in his preparations.”
