MANILA, Philippines – Former Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) light heavyweight king Quinton Jackson is excited about his battle against Ryan Bader in front of his Japanese fans this weekend.

“I’m so ready to kick Ryan Bader’s ass in front of my Japanese fans. I’m going to fight like I did in Pride, let it all hang out and go to war,” Jackson, also known as “Rampage,” said in his Yahoo! Sports blog.

Jackson is well-loved by Japanese fight fans because of his stint in Japan’s PRIDE Fighting Championships, where he gained prominence in mixed martial arts (MMA) by fighting the likes of Wanderlei Silva, Kevin Randleman and local star Kazushi Sakuraba.

“The Japanese fans are different. They go nuts for the entrances, then go all quiet for the fight – like they are reading a book or something – and suddenly go nuts again if you land a big punch or slam. At the end of the fight, they go nuts again!” said Jackson.

He left PRIDE in 2006 to join the World Fighting Alliance. Months later, he transferred to UFC.

On Saturday (Sunday in Manila), Jackson will be fighting Bader in the main supporting bout of UFC 144 Japan.

The UFC card, which features lightweight Frankie Edgar’s defense of his title against Benson Henderson, is set to take place at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan.

“I have trained like a wild man for this fight. I’ve run like a wild man for this fight. I want to put on a war for the fans at UFC 144. I want this to be a great fight so badly, I can’t believe it,” said Jackson.

UFC 144 Japan: EDGAR VS HENDERSON will be aired via satellite on BALLS Channel (SkyCable Ch 34) on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 11:30 am. There will also be replays on Studio 23.
