Donaire open to reconciling with dad
LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Newly crowned World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire just purchased a new condominium unit in Las Vegas.
Donaire said Las Vegas will be his and his wife's new home although he will continue to train in the Bay area where he grew up.
"First time namin ni Rachel na may bahay…our own home," said Donaire.
Donaire is still in euphoria up to now. He said that winning over Fernando Montiel over the weekend was quite astonishing.
Now, he is aiming to acquire the World Boxing Association (WBA) title to become the undisputed bantamweight champion.
Donaire is up for a challenge and is looking to face WBA titlist Anselmo Moreno of Panama.
"Maganda nga ‘yun kase magaling si Anselmo at magaling yung record niya, wala pang talo. Siya yung super champion ng WBA,” he said.
Donaire also said he is ready to patch things up with his dad, Nonito Sr., who was his former trainer.
“I never close my door, actually I’ve always been… ‘pag nakita ko sila nagmamano ako palagi,” said the Filipino Flash.
Donaire parted ways with his father in 2008 over money matters.
The Filipino Flash also clarified why he uses General Santos City every time he is introduced in the boxing ring.
He said he was born in Bohol but spent his early childhood in General Santos City.
Donaire and his wife are scheduled to go back to the Philippines next week.
But first, they plan to take rest and enjoy their Las Vegas home.
