MANILA, Philippines – Ateneo de Manila University drops Adamson University in straight sets to arrange a clash with second-ranked National University in the step-ladder semifinals of the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.

Led by Alyssa Valdez, the Lady Eagles booted the Lady Falcons out of the finals contention with a 26-24, 25-23, 25-21 win.

Ateneo is coming off a 25-17, 25-19, 25-16 win over eventual fifth placer Far Eastern University (FEU) to finish the elimination round with a 10-4 win-loss mark.

Valdez had 19 points on 14 attacks and three service aces as she guided the Lady Eagles to a faceoff with the Lady Bulldogs, who tote a twice-to-beat edge.

Whoever wins the step-ladder semis will square off against early finalist De La Salle University.

The four-peat seeking Lady Spikers defeated the Lady Bulldogs last week to gain an outright finals berth.
