MANILA, Philippines – Marinerong Pilipino cruised to its third straight victory in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup with a 109-93 demolition of AMA Online Education on Monday at the Pasig Sports Center.
Gab Banal was instrumental in the Skippers' triumph as he fired 20 points to go along with 14 rebounds and four assists.
Marinero scored seven unanswered points to open the game and never let up. They led 36-16 at the end of the first quarter and were never really threatened.
The Skippers improved to 4-2 in the league standings.
"The key here is understanding what we want to do, what we want to achieve," said coach Koy Banal. "Everything just fell into place."
Rian Ayonayon contributed 18 points, six rebounds, five assists, and four blocks in an all-around effort for Marinerong Pilipino.
The Skippers were simply a step ahead of AMA Online all throughout, as they shot 47% from the field and had 30 assists as a team. They also controlled the boards, 61-44.
Arvin Tolentino led AMA Online Education with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Robbie Manalang got 15 markers, four boards, and four dimes.
The Titans fell to 1-4 in the conference.
