MANILA, Philippines – New GlobalPort head coach Pido Jarencio does not believe the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup finals between the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers will go the distance.
“Sa akin, hanggang Game 6 lang ‘yan,” Jarencio said in an interview with PBA.ph. “Bahala na sila kung sino mananalo pagdating ng Game 6.”
The series is currently tied at one game apiece after San Mig Coffee claimed an 80-70 victory in Game 2 last week. Game 3 is set for Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Araneta Coliseum.
Jarencio said the series will likely go down to the breaks of the game.
“The Finals is a game of momentum,” he explained. “Nakuha ‘yun nung San Mig noong Game 2, tapos hindi naman maka-deliver ‘yung Rain or Shine.”
“Sa Game 3, mag-iiba na naman ‘yan. Malay natin, baka mag-shift naman ‘yung momentum sa Rain or Shine,” he added.
Jarencio, however, did not give a prediction as to who would end up taking home the Philippine Cup trophy, although he named San Mig’s Marc Pingris and Rain or Shine’s Beau Belga as the “x-factors” of the best-of-seven series.
