MANILA - GlobalPort faces a tough task when it collides against perennial contender Talk ‘N Text in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday.
Although the Batang Pier is tied for second place with Barako Bull and Petron, the Texters have a wealth of hard court experience.
“[It’s a] tough test for us,” said GlobalPort coach Junel Baculi in PBA.ph.
The mentor of the newly revamped GlobalPort said they will have to employ man-to-man defense against the current Philippine Cup champions.
“Talk N Text is such an explosive offensive team. Toughen up our defense and use our strengths. Compete and keep the score close,” he said.
Norman Black’s Talk ‘N Text (1-1) is currently tied in third place with Rain or Shine and Air21.
He said the game against GlobalPort will gauge their progress.
“It’s another game where we just want to continue to improve, especially on defense,” said Black.
He said that among the Batang Pier players to look out for are Japeth Aguilar, Solomon Mercado, Gary David and import Justin Williams.
The Texters will battle GlobalPort in the 5:15 p.m. curtain raiser on Wednesday.
The main game will be between the Meralco Bolts and the Petron Blaze Boosters.
