Arce says Pacquiao may be using drugs
'El Travieso' says Pacman uses undetectable substance
MANILA, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao’s alleged use of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) has been brought up again when former world champion Jorge Arce discussed the Filipino’s eight-division title record.
The former Mexican champion, nicknamed "El Travieso" or "The Mischievous One" claimed the Pacquiao couldn’t have won eight world titles without using performance enhancers.
“Pacman is coming from [the] flyweight [division] and walks around at welterweight. I am convinced that Manny is getting something,” Arce said in Boxing Scene.
“I've seen him overwhelm [fighters] who are much bigger than him."
Arce, who was knocked out by Nonito Donaire Jr. last December, said Pacquiao may have been using substances that remain undetectable in drug tests.
"He never [comes up] positive [during drug tests], so it is logical that he is using something that is legal or not detectable in his urine,” he said.
He further claimed that this may be the reason why Pacquiao didn’t immediately give in to Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s drug test demands.
The Filipino champion has repeatedly denied benefiting from performance enhancers and even filed a defamation suit against Mayweather’s camp for instigating rumors about his alleged drug use.
Mayweather later settled the case and denied accusing the Filipino of using PEDs.
