MANILA, Philippines – The University of the East (UE) Red Warriors stunned the De La Salle Green Spikers in four sets to register their lone win of the UAAP Season 76 men’s volleyball tournament Sunday at the San Juan Arena.

Three players scored in double-digits for UE as they ambushed La Salle, 25-23, 15-25, 25-21, and 25-22.

UE had lost its first 13 games of the season before taking down the Green Spikers in an upset.

The loss complicated the Final Four standings, as La Salle is now tied with Adamson in the league standings with identical 7-7 win-loss records. The Green Spikers and the Soaring Falcons will face off for the last spot in the Final Four on Wednesday.

Ace Mandani had 13 points while Angelone Soria and Lester Kim Sawal each scored 11 for the Red Warriors, who wrapped up the victory in just over an hour and 30 minutes.

Raymark Woo had 16 points for La Salle, but the Green Spikers committed 31 unforced errors to give UE easy points.

In another game, the undermanned National University (NU) Bulldogs defeated Far Eastern University (FEU) in straight sets, 25-18, 25-18, and 25-16, to wrap up the No. 1 seed at the end of the elimination round.

NU was playing without Reyson Fuentes while last season’s Finals MVP Peter Torres suffered an injury in the third set.

Edwin Tolentino had 12 points and Rueben Inaudito added 10 markers to carry the load for FEU.

No player scored in double-digits for the Tamaraws, who only got nine points from veteran Karl dela Calzaada.

FEU wrapped up its elimination round campaign with a 9-5 win-loss record and will face the second-seeded Ateneo Blue Eagles in the Final Four.
