MANILA – The ring is all set for this year’s King of the Ring: The Big Challenge, which takes place at the PAGCOR Airport Casino in Paranaque City on Saturday.
The main event will feature world rated Randy Petalcurin who will be staking his WBA Pan-Asian Boxing Association junior flyweight title against Rene Patilano of Real, Quezon.
"Talagang pinaghandaan ko ang laban ito, hindi ko siya bibigyan ng pagkakataon," said the 22- year-old Petalcurin, currently ranked as WBA’s No. 4 and WBO’s No. 8.
He currently fights under the banner of Thai sportsman Naris Singwangcha and Australian promoter Peter Maniatis.
"Tignan na lamang natin ang mangyayari," said Patilano, 21, whose sole defeat in nine professional fights was a razor-thin, split-decision loss to JR Estremos.
If Petalcurin beats Patilano, he’ll get closer to a possible junior flyweight title shot.
The co-main event is a 12-rounder between 26-year-old Filipino Ranel Suco of Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur and 27-year-old Prell Tupas of Bacolod City for the interim WBC Asian featherweight title.
The event is supported by Hon. Cynthia Villar of Villar Foundation, Dona Ma. Theresa Pallado and CCTV-Global Tronics. By Marlon Bernardino
