MANILA – Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is bringing in former NBA D-League player Vernon Macklin to replace current import Herbert Hill.

In an announcement through their official Twitter account, the Gin Kings said the 6’10” Macklin is already on his way to the Philippines.

“Import replacement @Vernon_Macklin is set to arrive on Monday, and expected to play for Barangay Ginebra on Feb23 vs. Alaska,” tweeted Barangay Ginebra.

Macklin, who plays center-forward, was part of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA D-League.

He played college basketball for the University of Florida, and was selected by the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft.

The Ginebra management decided to replace Hill after the latter’s disappointing performance against Air21.

The 6'10" Hill, only registered 17 points, with 18 rebounds, 4 blocks, an assist and a steal in 40 minutes of play.

Ginebra tried to get the services of former LA Laker DJ Mbenga, but negotiations didn’t work out.
