MANILA, Philippines – Mexico’s minimumweight champion Moises Fuentes will arrive in the Philippines next week as he gears up for his title fight against world light-flyweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes.
Phil Boxing’s Mike Angel Lopez reports that Fuentes, the World Boxing Organization champion, will arrive in the country on February 21.
Fuentes will climb one weight class to challenge Nietes for the light-flyweight belt on March 2 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City.
Fuentes is hoping that he will have enough time to get used to the weather in Cebu before he takes on Nietes.
He will be accompanied by manager Jorge Barrera and brother Heriberto Fuentes.
Barrera’s brother, former world champion Marco Antonio Barrera, will reportedly be at ringside to watch the Nietes-Fuentes title fight.
