MANILA, Philippines – Alaska clobbered Meralco on Wednesday to gain a share of the lead in the PBA Commissioner's Cup.
The Aces, particularly Sonny Thoss, kept Meralco's import on check in their 85-81 win over the Bolts.
Eric Dawson was held down to 15 points, 22 points lower than his 37-point performance against Talk ‘N Text last Saturday, according to the league’s website.
Adding to Meralco’s woes was Alaska’s scoring triumvirate in Calvin Abueva, Cyrus Baguio, and reinforcement Robert Dozier.
Dozier led all scorers with 27 points to go with his 14 rebounds and 6 shot blocks.
Abueva finished with 20 points, while Baguio had 16.
It was the Aces' second-straight victory following their 83-81 win over Rain or Shine.
They are now tied at the top with Barako Bull.
Alaska led by as much as 13 points over the Bolts in the third period.
The Aces leaned on Tony dela Cruz during crunch time to ward off Meralco's late game rally.
Vic Manuel paced the Bolts with 18 points, while Ronjay Buenafe added 14.
