MANILA – Asi Taulava could break the record for having the most number of PBA All-Star appearances if he makes the cut in the PBA balloting.

Although the 40-year-old Air21 center is not listed among the top 10 center/forwards for the annual All-Star, he remains a contender, according to the PBA website.

The Fil-Tongan currently shares the record with four-time MVP Alvin Patrimonio with 12 All-Star appearances.

Taulava continues to be a force inside the paint, having averaged 13.21 points and 14.6 rebounds in the PBA Philippine Cup eliminations.

Other players who have made multiple appearances in the annual PBA All-Star include veterans Dondon Hontiveros (11), James Yap (10), Jimmy Alapag (9), Eric Menk (9), Willie Miller (9), Sonny Thoss (9), Jayjay Helterbrand (7), Danny Ildefonso (7), Marc Pingris (7) and Rico Villanueva (7).

Those who will be selected for this year's All-Star team will face Gilas Pilipinas on April 6 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
