MANILA, Philippines – Petron Blaze head coach Olsen Racela insists his squad is not losing hope even after losing another player to injury.
Already without swingman Marcio Lassiter due to a back injury, the Blaze Boosters will now have to play without Chris Lutz, who sustained a fractured rib during Petron’s game against GlobalPort last week.
“Chris will be out six weeks,” San Miguel executive Noli Eala told the official league website.
But Racela, who watched his injury-hit team struggle in the previous conference, said they must remain optimistic despite another setback.
“There are times I get frustrated, because we’re having difficulty having a complete line-up,” Racela admitted.
“But we still need to compete. We’re not losing hope,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, star forward Arwind Santos said the injury issues were just part of the game.
“Ayoko ng isipin ‘yan,” he said. “Wala naman kasing may gusto niyan, pero ganyan talaga. Kailang pa rin naming lumban.”
Petron did receive some good news as the league website reported that Lassiter is already recovering from his back injury and may soon be back in action for the Blaze Boosters.
