MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE) Two-time UAAP Most Valuable Player Bobby Ray Parks Jr. of the National University (NU) has sustained a hand injury that puts him out of action for two months.
Parks announced on his Twitter account Monday that he suffered a torn ligament in his right hand.
In a text message to ABS-CBNnews.com, Parks said he hit his right hand against the backboard during a scrimmage.
"I won't need surgery," Parks added.
Ateneo slotman Greg Slaughter and UST swingman Jeric Teng, as well as other supporters, have sent Parks well-wishes on Twitter.
Parks won a second UAAP MVP award in Season 75 after averaging a league-high 21.4 points to go along with 7.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. He led the Bulldogs to a 9-5 win-loss record and a berth in the Final Four.
Despite the injury, Parks will likely be back in time for the UAAP season, which starts July.
