MANILA, Philippines – De La Salle University fended off a comeback attempt from rival Ateneo de Manila University to claim an 11-10 victory in their second-round game of the UAAP Season 76 baseball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Sunday.

La Salle took an 8-0 lead going into the top of the fourth inning before Ateneo finally got on the scoreboard.

The Blue Batters were able to tie the game, 10-10, at the top of the eighth inning, thanks to runs by Adriane Ros Bernardo, Lorenzo Orbeta and Mateo Laurel.

But La Salle escaped with the victory thanks to Pocholo Dominguez, who scored the go-ahead run at the bottom of the eighth.

It was La Salle’s second victory over Ateneo this season, as they also beat their rivals, 13-6, in their first meeting last January 9.

They meet again for the first game of the best-of-three baseball Finals on February 14, the first time that La Salle and Ateneo will contest the UAAP baseball crown.
