MANILA – Unstoppable Beau Belga was named as the Accel-PBA Press Corp. PBA Player of the Week for his unwavering leadership while towing Rain or Shine past Petron Blaze in the PBA Philippine Cup semis.

Belga’s performances in Game 4 and Game 5 helped the Elasto Painters conclude their race-to-four series against the Boosters, thereby assuring a second straight appearance in the PBA Philippine Cup finals.

According to the PBA website, the 6-foot-5 forward/center edged out San Mig Coffee’s Mark Barroca, who has been the Player of the Week for the last three weeks.

It was Belga’s three-point shot that sealed Rain or Shine’s Game 4 for a 3-1 series lead against Petron. He followed this up with an 18-point, 9-rebound output in Game 5 last Friday, ending the series with a 4-1 lead.

Coach Yeng Guiao cited Belga’s dominating presence inside the shaded lane helped them check Petron’s June Mar Fajardo.

“Beau is learning to impose his presence not just on court but also off the court,” said Guiao.

Rain or Shine will be taking one the winner of the semis duel between San Mig Coffee and Barangay Ginebra in the finals.
