MANILA, Philippines – San Mig Coffee will try to go for the kill when it meets Barangay Ginebra in Game 6 at the Araneta Coliseum on Monday.

The Mixers will be going into the game with a 3-2 series lead in their race-to-four semifinals against the Gin Kings.

Coach Tim Cone said they hope to close out Ginebra for the right to face Rain or Shine in the PBA Philippine Cup finals.

“We got to finish it off,” said the San Mig coach following their heart-stopping 79-76 victory over Ginebra last Saturday.

Cone said he expects another tight battle against the Gin Kings, who were pretty much competitive in Game 5 until until James Yap’ dagger triple 12.5 seconds remaining in the match.

“It’s been a big battle of wits off the court,” he said. “It’s the ‘Manila Classico.’ It should come down to that last possession.”

But Ginebra coach Ato Agustin said beating the Gin Kings won’t be easy, noting that they only need to make adjustments to level the series and force a Game 7.

“Nakita [n’yo] naman, close game pa rin,” he said.

Agustin said the Gin Kings will need to limit their turnovers in order to win. In Game 5, Ginebra had 24 turnovers, which translated to 27 points for San Mig Coffee.

“We just have to play smart, especially sa endgame,” said Agustin.
