Phoenix pulled off a come-from-behind win over TNT, 74-72, in the PBA Philippine Cup at Mall of Asia Arena Wednesday.
Doug Kramer provided the game-winner, converting a timely assist from Matthew Wright then sinking the teardrop shot for the go-ahead basket.
Wright led Phoenix with 16 points, including a dagger 3 that helped the Fuel Masters erase a 13-point deficit.
Jeff Chan added 11 for Phoenix, which also got 10 from Gelo Alolino.
Phoenix trailed by as many as 13 points, but managed to tie the game, 67-all, after a difficult shot by Chan with 4:06 to go.
TNT took the lead again but Wright, celebrating his 27th birthday, drilled a 3-pointer that tied the count again, 72-all, with 44 seconds left.
Jayson Castro had a chance to put TNT ahead, but missed a floater.
Phoenix rookie Jason Perkins recovered the ball and called for timeout 19.4 seconds to go leading to the Kramer basket with 3 seconds left.
The Fuel Masters walked away with the victory after Kelly Williams saw his game-tying attempt rim out.
Anthony Semerad scored 12 points and RR Pogoy chipped in 10 for TNT.
Phoenix now has a 4-4 record, tying TNT with the same card at sixth place.
" 'Yun talaga ang target namin, makuha yung fourth to sixth place para makuha 'yung sa best-of-3 sa playoffs," said Phoenix coach Louie Alas.
"But we have 3 more games and ang main concern ko ay after a big win nagdi-dip ang performance namin, 'yun ang kailangan namin i-arrest."
TNT took a double whammy after losing Troy Rosario, who suffered a bad fall at the onset of the fourth quarter.
Rosario was going for a rebound when Perkins tripped and collided with him midair, sending Rosario falling face down. He was stretchered out of the court and taken to hospital.
