MANILA, Philippines – University of the East (UE) made short work of National University (NU), 25-17, 29-27, and 25-22, to capture its 10th consecutive UAAP boys’ volleyball crown Wednesday at the UE-Caloocan gym.
The Junior Warriors now have a league-best 13 boys championships after completing a sweep of the best-of-three finals against the Bullpups.
Unlike in its series opening win – a 23-25, 25-15, 25-18, 23-25, and 15-13 victory – UE set the tone of the game early on with Edward Camposano proving unstoppable on offense.
Camposano, who played his final season for the Junior Warriors, took home his fourth consecutive Most Valuable Player plum. He also took home the Best Attacker award.
UE’s Adrian Imperial and Ron Medalla won the Best Setter and Server awards, respectively. NU’S Armel Amuan was named Rookie of the Year, while Kim Adriano got Best Blocker and Manuel Sumanguid, Best Libero.
Richmond Crisostomo of third-placer Ateneo was named Best Receiver.
University of Santo Tomas, meanwhile, defeated NU, 28-26, 25-17, 18-25, 20-25, and 15-13, to level the best-of-three series for the girls crown.
Game Three will be at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
