MANILA, Philippines – Despite Juan Manuel Marquez’s reluctance to fight Manny Pacquiao again, boxing coach Freddie Roach still believes the fifth fight between the two boxing legends will happen.

Roach told Boxing Scene that Marquez will eventually end up squaring off with Pacquiao again since there is no other option left for the gritty Mexican fighter.

"What other fight for him is out there? Is he going to fight [Floyd] Mayweather again? Can he beat Mayweather? He got killed by Mayweather. So what's the biggest fight out there? Can he fight the young guys coming up?” Pacquiao’s trainer said.

Roach added that since Marquez’s professional career is nearing its end, the Mexican is likely to choose fights that will give him the biggest purses.

“He'll negotiate when it gets closer, I'm not worried about that. He really doesn't have anything else. Bradley and all of those other guys out there, he's not going to make the money that he would for Pacquiao," Roach said.

Marquez already had four fights with Pacquiao, drawing the first one and losing the next two. But their fourth bout ended via a shocking sixth-round knockout in favor of Marquez.

Roach said the stunning ending of the four fight has generated much interest for a fifth installment.

"This is bigger than Mayweather-Pacquiao right now. The third fight was boring, so not that many people were interested in the fourth. But the fourth fight may been the best one [in the series], both ways. It was back and forth, both guys were on the deck. In this one, both of them will make a lot of money. I'm not worried about negotiations, Bob Arum will do his job," Roach said.

Marquez earlier said he is already ending his ring rivalry with Pacquiao, citing that fans are no longer interested to see them fighting again.

He added that he got what he wanted when he knocked out Pacquiao last December.

“[I] am not interested in doing it, [there’s] no point, since [my] objective was achieved,” Marquez said in an interview with The Record.
