'Django' leads Pinoy cue artists in Derby City Classic

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino cue master Francisco “Django” Bustamante bagged another trophy to add to his collection after winning the Master of the Table crown at the 15th Annual Derby City Classic Sunday in Elizabeth, Indiana.

Bustamante won $20,000 for winning the All Around Master of the Table Crown, as he dominated the 9-Ball banks and was second in the One Pocket division.

Meanwhile, Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan subdued American Shawn Putnam, 9-6, to top the 9-ball division and take the top prize of $16,000.

Dennis “Robocop” Orcollo also took home $20,000 after beating Niels Feijen of the Netherlands, 1-9, in the 10-ball challenge.

The campaign of the three Filipinos in the United States is supported by Puyat Sports, Bugsy International Promotions and the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines. -- By Marlon Bernardino
