Undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has denied placing a $10.4-million bet on the Denver Broncos, who lost in the Super Bowl to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday (Monday in Manila).

There were several reports, mostly from gambling networks, that the pound-for-pound king placed a huge bet on the Broncos to win the Super Bowl, but Mayweather shot down the rumors shortly before the big game ended.

“For the record, I did not bet $10 million on the Broncos. As a matter of fact, I didn’t bet all,” Mayweather said in a post on his Instagram account.

“I can’t control what rumors that are put out there. Good or bad publicity keeps me relevant. The only thing I would bet $10 million on is myself,” he added.

“From the looks of my record, I’m a guaranteed win!!!”

The Seahawks crushed the Broncos, 43-8, to win Super Bowl LXVIII.

Mayweather also revealed on his Twitter account that he had no intention of betting on the Broncos, led by NFL Most Valuable Player Peyton Manning, in the first place.

“Somebody lied to you all. If I was going to bet, I would have bet on the Seattle Seahawks,” he tweeted.

Mayweather has become notorious for placing huge bets on sporting events, at times posting pictures of receipts on his social media accounts to prove that he won.
