MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) announced Monday that it has canceled a Commissioners Cup game between Alaska and NLEX that was scheduled to be played in Polomolok, South Cotabato on Saturday, February 7.

The game will instead be held at the San Juan Arena on the same day.

"In light of the recent encounter between police commando and separatist forces in Maguindanao, as well as the heightened security risks and threats posed by continuing insurgent activities in proximate areas, the Office of the Commissioner deems it prudent to cancel the PBA game scheduled in South Cotabato on February 7, 2015," PBA commissioner Chito Salud said in a statement.

Last January 25, 44 members of the Philippine National Police – Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) were killed in a clash against the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
