GlobalPort acquires 4 other players in trade
MANILA, Philippines – Talk ‘N Text has agreed to trade Japeth Aguilar for GlobalPort’s Rabeh Al-Hussaini in a three-team deal that also involved seven other players.
According to the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), league commissioner Chito Salud approved the trade that also sent Meralco’s Sol Mercado, Kelly Nabong, JP Belencion and Yousif Aljamal to GlobalPort.
In return, Meralco gets GlobalPort's Rey Guevarra, Vic Manuel, Josh Vanlandingham and its 2015 first round draft pick.
"These new trades are healthy for the players and teams involved, not to mention the league, as the competitive balance among the member-teams is decidedly enhanced. All of the players and teams in this latest set of trades will enjoy equal and optimum benefits," Salud said in a statement.
The player movement has granted the wish of Aguilar, who reportedly asked to be traded for more playing minutes.
Aguilar has tried out for several NBA teams in the US but failed to make the cut.
Talk ‘N Text said it has no problem releasing the 6-foot-10 power forward.
“If we get Rabeh for Japeth, we’re okay,” said Talk 'N Text’s Patrick Gregorio in the Philippine Star.
On the other hand, GlobalPort and Meralco wanted a more balanced lineup for the coming PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
