MANILA – Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes disclosed that they are trying to include two NBA players in their lineup for the coming FIBA World Cup and the Asian Games.

In a meeting with the PBA Board of Governors, Reyes said they have sought the help of Congress to naturalize Denver Nuggets' Javale McGee and Brooklyn Nets’ Andray Blatche.

“You should know that we have already filed, with the help of Congressman Robbie Puno, House Bill No. 3784 for Javale McGee and 3783 for Andray Blatche,” he was quoted as saying in Carlo Pamintuan’s Yahoo! Sports report.

During that same meeting, Reyes made an appeal to allow members of Gilas Pilipinas, composed mainly of PBA players, more training time for the World Cup and the Asian Games.

Reyes eventually got the board’s support, prompting the league to cut the season schedule to July 15 instead of August 13.

“The board reiterated their full support to the Gilas program and they have very generously cut back the schedule by one month,” Reyes said.

“They also assured me that if there are other additional players that I would require that they would take it to their respective owners and that they can be considered to be part of the pool for the Gilas team.”
