MANILA, Philippines – The PBA D-League is investigating a game between the Cagayan Valley Rising Suns and the NLEX Road Warriors wherein racial insults were allegedly hurdled against NLEX big man Ola Adeogun.

According to Spin.ph's Snow Badua, PBA chief Chito Salud has summoned Cagayan Valley utility staff Bernard Santos for taunting the Nigerian with a banana during the game.

Santos was seen waving a banana at Adoegun in an apparent attempt to distract the player from the game, which took place at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

“Hindi ko alam na ganun pala katindi ang ginagawa niya kay Ola. Nung game kasi hindi ko masyado nakikita, pero napansin ko,” NLEX and San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez said in the report.

Fernandez said the whole San Beda community felt insulted by the gesture.

“Yung San Beda community rin is crying foul over the matter. Nasaktan sila for Ola, player namin dito yun eh,” he said Fernandez.

He hopes the league teaches the alleged perpetrator a lesson because of the nature of the offense.

NLEX, defending champions of the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup, lost the game, 78-74.

“Sana mabigyan ng action at maturuan ng leksyon yung perpetrator. Hindi naman natin nature na Filipino yung ganung act eh. Masakit talaga 'yun. Kung sa kanya gagawin 'yun, masasaktan rin siya,” said Fernandez.
