MANILA, Philippines -- Boxing superstar and Saranggani Rep. Manny Pacquiao finally received his award from the United Nations Association of the Philippines.
The UNAP General Carlos P. Romulo Award was supposed to be given to Pacquiao as early as December but he only had time to receive it in Congress on Tuesday.
The award was conferred by former Commission on Human Rights Commissioner Aurora Recina.
In a press release, it was explained that Pacquiao was given this award because of his contribution to the Philippines and the world through his achievements as a politican and professional boxer, in addition to his socio-civic and community outreach activities.
Previous recipients of the award include US-based businesswoman Loida Nicolas Lewis and Commission on Higher Education chairperson Patricia Licuanan.
