MANILA, Philippines – Defending champions De La Salle made quick work of the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) as the Lady Spikers trounced the Tigresses in straight sets in their second round meeting in the UAAP Season 75 women’s volleyball tournament last Sunday at the San Juan Arena.

Sophomore star Ara Galang fired 20 points in powering La Salle to a 30-28, 25-15 and 25-19 victory in just one hour and 24 minutes.

It was sweet revenge for the defending champions, who were stunned by the Tigresses in five sets in their season opener.

Reigning MVP Abigail Maraño helped La Salle’s cause with 12 points.

No UST playerscored in double figures, with Carmela Tunay top-scoring with nine markers.

In the first game, the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws won their fifth straight match with a 25-8, 25-12 and 25-12 victory over the University of the Philippines (UP).
