MANILA – World Boxing Council (WBC) President Jose Sulaiman has suggested that former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. get a new boxing coach following his recent loss to Sergio Martinez.
Sulaiman said Chavez needs a coach who can spend more time with him than with other boxers.
The WBC told Boxing Scene that Chavez’s current coach Freddie Roach spends most of his time with his prized fighter Manny Pacquiao.
"[He] forgets about his other fighters," said Sulaiman.
Among the boxing trainers being suggested to Chavez Jr. is former world champion Robert Garcia, who coaches four-division champion Nonito Donaire Jr.
"[Garcia] is very good coach," said the WBC official.
