So targets bounce-back win against Dutch GM

Filipino Grandmaster (GM) Wesley So will attempt to bounce back against GM Loek Van Wely of the Netherlands in the ninth round of the 76th Tate Steel Tournament in Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam on Thursday.

So, using the white pieces, is in a must-win situation against Van Wely if he wants to book a decent finish in the 12-player field.

The Filipino GM remains at 4.0 points and dropped to a tie for sixth to eighth places with Van Wely and GM Pentala Harikrishna of India.

He is coming off a loss to GM Leinier Dominguez of Cuba in the eighth round before taking a break Wednesday.
