MANILA, Philippines – Petron Blaze will play it safe when it faces Barako Bull again at the resumption of their race-to-two quarterfinal duel at the PBA Philippine Cup on Friday.
The Boosters had to mount a massive run in the final period to overcome the Energy Colas, 101-88, during Game 1 of their best-of-three series.
Petron coach Gee Abanilla said Petron will have to stay on its toes to keep Barako from recovering from its Game 1 loss.
“It is very important for us to build on the momentum we had in our last game especially in the second half,” said Abanilla in the PBA website.
“Definitely, we want to go all out with a win in Game Two but we have to work on certain flaws and fix them before facing Barako again,” he added.
Marcio Lassiter, Alex Cabagnot, and Chris Lutz rained 3-pointers against Barako Bull to ignite a 29-4 run in the fourth quarter.
Lassiter then closed out the game, tallying 13 of his 17 points in the payoff period. He fired a total of 9 points from 3-point country.
Game 2 between Petron Blaze and Barako Bull will begin at 8 p.m. at the MOA Arena.
