MANILA, Philippines – If Timothy Bradley gets a rematch, he will be outfoxed and outboxed by a slick fighting Manny Pacquiao, a veteran boxing trainer said.
Kenny Adams, who was a corner man for well-known boxers like Diego Corrales, Johnny Tapia and Ray Mercer, said Bradley will be no match against a wiser Pacquiao.
“I probably see Pacquiao winning,” said Adams in an interview with Hustle Boss. “I thought he won the [first fight].”
Adams said Pacquiao looked pretty good against Rios, who was badly outpunched by the faster and more experienced Filipino.
He added that he doesn’t think that Bradley will have the edge although the American was able to defeat Pacquiao’s tormentor Juan Manuel Marquez.
“Styles make fights... I think what's gonna happen in my opinion is Pacquiao is gonna box, just like what he recently did with Brandon Rios,” said Adams.
He said the Marquez knockout may have helped Pacquiao become an improved boxer.
“That's his plus at this point in time. that what's he needs to do to protect the chin,” said Adams.
Pacquiao earlier mentioned that he wants a rematch with Bradley, who won their first fight in 2012 via a controversial decision.
The Filipino dominated Bradley in that bout, but the American boxer still managed to win by points and wrest the WBO welterweight belt away from Pacquiao.
Top Rank Inc., which promotes both Pacquiao and Bradley, is finishing the details of the rematch which could take place on April 12.
