MANILA, Philippines – Filipino junior flyweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes is up for a tough challenge when he faces a taller and resilient fighter in Mexico’s Moises Fuentes.
ALA Promotions President Michael Aldeguer described Fuentes as someone who can adjust to any type of opponent.
“It's going to be the toughest fight of Nietes,” Aldeguer told Philboxing’s Ronnie Nathanielsz. “[Fuentes] can punch and also adjust.”
The Mexican, who stands 5’ 7.5” tall and holds a 3.5-inch advantage against the 5’4” Nietes.
It will be Fuentes’ first fight as a junior flyweight.
He won the World Boxing Organization (WBO) minimum weight title by carving out a split decision over southpaw Raul “Rayito” Garcia.
Fuentes has 16 wins against 1 defeat, while Nietes owns a record of 31-1-3.
Nietes will be fighting Fuentes at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu on March 2.
