WBO says Pacquiao fighting in June, not May
MANILA, Philippines – World Boxing Organization (WBO) president Francisco “Paco” Varcacel said he was told that Manny Pacquiao will make his ring return in June, not May.
"I was told by Bob Arum that Pacquiao would fight in June, not in May," Varcarcel said in Boxing Scene.
Pacquiao, the reigning WBO welterweight champion, was reportedly open to fight in late May to accommodate a possible super bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Mayweather was actually demanding Pacquiao to fight him on May 5.
Boxing promoter Arum, however, said they could arrange the Pacquiao-Mayweather the soonest in late May.
Arum said they would need to erect a temporary stadium which would host possibly the most lucrative fight to date.
