MANILA, Philippines – Rising mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Mark "The Filipino Wrecking Machine" Muñoz assured fight fans he’s not about to engage his opponent Chael Sonnen to a word war ahead of their match in UFC on FOX 2.
Sonnen, who will be Muñoz's ticket to a UFC title shot, is known to hype fights through trash talk.
"I'm not known for talking trash. Inside the Octagon I'll let my hands do the talking," Muñoz told The Score.
Muñoz actually believes that Sonnen will keep his trash talking to a minimum this time around as they go way back to their college wrestling days.
"We actually go way back. We got respect for each other, I don't think he's gonna talk trash really," he said.
The Filipino-American MMA fighter is riding on a four-fight win streak, which is highlighted by his second-round stoppage of Chris Leben in UFC 138.
Muñoz hopes he can beat Sonnen to get a title shot against reigning UFC middleweight champion and former training partner Anderson Silva.
"It's gonna be a tough fight, I know Chael's gonna bring it. I'm gonna bring it too and we can see the best man wins," said Muñoz.
