MANILA – De La Salle struck hardest in the ninth inning – thanks to Felix Imperal’s three-run scoring triple – to frustrate Adamson University, 4-3, and keep its record spotless in the UAAP Season 76 baseball tournament.

Imperial belted the triple to right field, scoring Edward Flores, who walked; Pocholo Dominguez, who was hit by a pitched ball; and Paul Naguit, who singled, for the Green Archers’ fourth straight victory.

The day, however, belonged to the University of the Philippines, which stunned Season 74 champions National University (NU), 11-5, to claim their first win of the season.

UP was in control most of the way and scored at least one run in each of the nine innings except the fifth frame.

The Maroons faced stiff resistance only in the seventh inning, when the Bulldogs threatened with a three-run explosion.
The loss was NU’s second in three games.

Adamson, which dropped to its second loss in three outings, broke the ice at the bottom of the first when Robin Go scored on a sacrifice fly by Dave dela Cruz.
