MANILA, Philippines – Defending champions Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters will play the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers Friday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum with both squads trying to gain momentum for the PBA Philippine Cup playoffs.

San Mig secured a playoff spot Wednesday with its 112-93 rout of Petron Blaze, and now sit at fifth place with their 6-7 win-loss record.

“It’s one of those nights where everything comes together for you,” Cone said of their win over the Boosters. “There are nights like this, and it happened in a very fortunate time for us. Hopefully, we can build on this.”

“It doesn’t guarantee us of anything except the quarters. We still need to come out and have a good turnout against Talk ‘N Text,” he added.

The Texters, with their 7-5 record, are sure to figure in a best-of-three quarterfinals series.

Meanwhile, San Mig can still drop to seventh or eighth if they lose their last assignment in the elimination round.

“Right now, because our position in the standings is pretty much set, it’s all about trying to establish momentum going into playoffs,” TNT head coach Norman Black said.

TNT has lost two consecutive games and three of its last four, and players have struggled with injuries.

“We will be out there fighting to win,” Black assured. “Kelly Williams, Ryan Reyes and Noy Baclao will be back for the playoffs.”

The Texters close out the elimination rounds against Ginebra on Sunday.

Game time is at 8:00 p.m.
