De Ocampo, Castro lead Finals MVP candidates

MANILA, Philippines – It seems that winning the PBA Philippine Cup is far from Yeng Guiao’s mind for now.

The Rain or Shine coach said getting win number 1 against Talk ‘N Text is their primary concern instead of entertaining thoughts of coming back from a 0-3 deficit in the Philippine Cup best-of-seven series.
“Iyun ngang unang panalo hindi namin makuha, eh, history pa?” said Guiao in PBA’s website.

“I will just try and delay their (Talk ‘N Text) party or celebration,” he added.

No team in the history of the league has recovered from a 0-3 deficit.

Hostilities will resume between Talk ‘N Text and Rain or Shine on Wednesday with the Texters aiming to close out the series.

Talk ‘N Text coach Norman Black said he doesn’t want his charges to get ahead of themselves, rather he wants them to concentrate on the task at hand.
“We know it’s not going to be easy, but we don’t want to give Rain or Shine any breathing room, that’s why we’re really going for it on Wednesday,” said Black.

If the series ends on Wednesday, the league will also announce the Papa John’s Pizza-PBA Press Corps Finals MVP.

Texters teammates Ranidel de Ocampo and Jayson Castro are the leading candidates for the award.
