MANILA, Philippines – Outspoken British fighter Michael Bisping believes he will eventually become a mixed martial arts (MMA) champion.
Bisping, who needs to beat Vitor Belfot this weekend for a UFC middleweight title shot, said he has all the right tools to become an MMA champion.
“No one works as hard as me. I've definitely got the skill set. I've got the tools. I've got the mental capacity to achieve that, the mental toughness that's required. I've got all the ingredients,” the 33-year-old Briton said in MMA Fighting.
"I think I'm destined to be world champion one day.”
Bisping will face Belfort in the main event of UFC on FOX on Saturday in Brazil (Sunday, Manila time).
Bisping has been in a couple of title eliminations, but failed in both attempts.
The latest was his three-round encounter with Chael Sonnen in 2012 which he lost by unanimous decision.
"The fact that I've built myself back up and gotten to this position again, I think, is a testament to my mental toughness," Bisping said.
Bisping said he’ll make the best out of the chance given to him.
“God forbid this doesn't go my way on Saturday night, I'm not going away. I'm not going away that easily. I'll go away, I'll dust myself off, I'll build myself back up, and I'll be back in this position again. And I will win,” he said.
