MANILA, Philippines – After getting much-needed rest, Filipino Grand Master (GM) Wesley So is ready for war when he goes up against local bet GM Anish Giri in the fourth round of the 76th Tata Steel Tournament in Amsterdam.

After three rounds of play, So has collected 2.0 points on account of two draws and a win -- the same output of fellow leaders Giri, top-seed GM Levon Aronian of Armenia, GM Pentala Harikrishna of India, GM Fabiano Caruana of Italy, and GM Hikaru Nakamura of the United States.

So had previously lost to Giri when they played in the 11th round of the 2010 Corus Open despite the Filipino holding a winning position.

Last Monday, So settled for a draw against German GM Arkadij Naiditsch after 35 moves of Ruy Lopez Berlin using the black pieces. – by Marlon Bernardino
