MANILA – The De La Salle Lady Spikers will try to sweep the first round of the UAAP Season 76 women’s volleyball tournament when they take on the still winless University of the East Lady Warriors on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan.
La Salle on Sunday notched its sixth win of the season – and 22nd straight dating back to Season 75 – with a dominant sweep of rivals Ateneo.
The Lady Spikers have yet to drop a set in Season 76.
UE is on the other end of the spectrum, as they have yet to win a set this season. The Lady Warriors were routed by the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons in three sets when they played last Saturday.
It was UE’s 23rd straight loss since 2012.
Despite UE’s woeful record, La Salle head coach Ramil de Jesus says they will prepare well for the Lady Spikers.
“Same lang din. Kung ano ‘yung preparation na ginagawa namin sa every game, ganoon din,” said De Jesus. “Hindi namin iniisip kung mahina or malakas, may panalo o walang panalo ‘yung kalaban.”
In the second game of the double-header, the Adamson University Lady Falcons will take on the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws.
Both FEU and Adamson tote 3-3 win-loss records and share the fourth and fifth spots in the league standings.
