Chicago's Rose now off crutches, 'doing great'
Injured Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is now off crutches and is “doing great,” according to his coach, Tom Thibodeau.
“He’s coming along fine,” Thibodeau told ESPN Chicago. “He’s off the crutches. He’s doing more and more, but he still has a long way to go.”
Thibodeau said Rose is expected to begin travelling with the team within the next couple of weeks.
“He’s doing great,” the coach said of the former NBA MVP.
Rose missed all of last season while recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in April 2012. He made his return last October but suffered another injury on November 22, tearing the meniscus in his right knee.
The Bulls have a 17-19 record, good for second place in the Central Division, and are in sixth place in the conference standings.
