MANILA, Philippines – Fresh from a week-long break, league-leading Barangay Ginebra will try to bounce back against a resurgent Barako Bull Energy squad in the PBA Philippine Cup Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Ginebra entered their break on a low note after bowing to the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers, a loss that stopped their six-game winning streak.

But they have a chance to solidify their hold at the top spot of the league-standings and close in on a twice-to-beat advantage with a victory against the Energy, who have won two straight games.

“Kinalimutan na namin lahat ng mga nangyari,” Ginebra coach Ato Agustin said. “We want to focus against Barako.”

Ginebra won their first encounter of the conference, 85-79.

Barako is on a roll, however, having won three of their last four games. They are coming off a 92-88 upset of Petron that allowed them to briefly take hold of solo fifth in the league standings.

A win for Barako will formalize their entry into the playoffs.

Game time is at 5:15 p.m.

In the first game of the double-header, the skidding GlobalPort Batang Pier will try to keep its playoff hopes alive against the Alaska Aces.

GlobalPort has lost five games in a row but still has a chance to make it to the top eight. Both the Batang Pier and the Aces have 4-8 win-loss records.

Game time is at 3 p.m.
