MANILA, Philippines – Top Rank Inc.’s CEO Bob Arum claimed Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s call out is just a sham.

Arum said in Ronnie Nathanielsz’s Boxing Scene report that Mayweather’s camp has already agreed to fight Robert Guerrero on May 5.

He claimed Mayweather was just posturing when the boxer called out Manny Pacquiao through Twitter.

“They have already agreed to fight Robert Guerrero on May 5. They feel that if they blame Manny and myself for the Pacquiao-Mayweather not happening and therefore they are fighting Guerrero and that somehow the public will excuse them and buy the Mayweather-Guerrero fight,” said Arum.

The boxing promoter said Mayweather just wanted to make a payday by taking on an easy fighter before he goes to jail in June.

Mayweather’s camp thinks using Pacquiao’s name will make the Guerrero fight more interesting, said Arum.

“They want to grab some quick bucks fighting a non-dangerous opponent, go to jail if Mayweather has to, come out and then go right into a big fight with Manny Pacquiao,” he said.

Golden Boy Promotions (GBP), which handles Mayweather’s fights, disputed Arum’s claim.

"It's not going to be Guerrero," GBP CEO Richard Schaefer said in

Among the opponents reportedly being groomed to fight Mayweather is junior middleweight titleholder Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
