Lady Tams tame Tigresses to end 3-game skid

MANILA, Philippines – Far Eastern University (FEU) needed four sets to beat University of Santo Tomas (UST), 15-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-22, on Saturday’s Season 76 UAAP women's volleyball at The Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Tamaraws regrouped after a slow start against the Tigresses to put an end to a three-game skid.

UST took the first set but failed to maintain its composure when FEU started to make its mark midway through the game.

The Tigresses threatened again in the fourth but the lady Tams unleashed five straight points to clinch its first victory in four games.

Mary Palma had 20 points, while Bernadette Pons added 13. Geneveve Casugod chipped in 10 to help FEU improve to 3-3.

In the other game, University of the Philippines (UP) notched its first win in the 76th season by beating University of the East (UE) in straight sets.

The Lady Maroons had it 25-8, 25-18, 25-16 against the Recto-based spikers.

Julienne Calugcug, Katherine Bersola and Angeli Araneta came up with identical scores of 11 points.

It was UP’s first win in 7 games.
