MANILA, Philippines – Two-time defending champion Perpetual Help survived a 33-point explosion from San Beda’s Janine Marciano as they beat the Lady Red Spikers in four sets in the NCAA Season 89 women’s volleyball tournament Monday at the San Juan Arena.

Honey Royse Tubino scored a career-high 30 points to power the Lady Altas to a 25-22, 22-25, 25-20, and 27-25 victory, their fifth against two losses.

Shaira Cabriana added 21 points for Perpetual Help, who rallied from a five-point deficit in the fourth set and reached match point at 24-22.

Marciano came up with two clutch kills to tie the set at 24-all, but Cabriana’s drop sealed the win for Perpetual Help.

Perpetual and San Beda are now tied in the league standings with identical 5-2 win-loss records.
