MANILA, Philippines – Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao believes that his Elasto Painters has a greater chance of winning the PBA Philippine Cup trophy if they force the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters into a long series.

“The longer the series, the better it is for us,” Guiao said in the final press conference before the Philippine Cup Finals.

“We just want to hang around and give ourselves a chance... Once we get a chance, it’s all up to us,” he added.

Guiao believes that if the Finals go deep into the seven-game series, his squad will have the advantage.

“We’re the youngest team,” he said.

“Prior to last conference, nobody had any championship experience. Now, everybody has, except Chris (Tiu),” Guiao said. “One championship is enough for us to go for another one. The wisdom you gained, the experience you gained – that’s enough to match up with them, with the titles that Talk ‘N Text has,” he added.

For his part, TNT head coach Norman Black said he doesn’t care how long the series goes.

“I don’t care how long the series goes as long as we get the four wins,” he said. “If it goes seven, it goes seven. If it goes four, it goes four.”

The Texters are aiming for their third straight Philippine Cup title, while the Elasto Painters are making their first appearance in the Philippine Cup finals.

Game 1 of the best-of-seven Finals will be on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.
