MANILA, Philippines – The Adamson Lady Falcons overcame a first-set hiccup to conquer the University of the East (UE) Lady Warriors in four sets to notch their third win of the UAAP Season 76 women’s volleyball tournament Sunday at the San Juan Arena.

Rookies Jema Galanza and Mylene Paat stepped up for Adamson as they won in four sets, 23-25, 25-15, 25-17, and 25-10.

The Lady Warriors rallied from a 17-22 deficit in the opening set, with veteran Faith Bulan’s steady service allowing them to unleash an 8-1 run to steal the first set. It was the first set that UE has won all season.

“Nagkulang kami sa depensa sa likod, at puro errors ang nangyari sa amin sa first set,” explained Paat.

But UE’s level of play steadily deteriorated in the succeeding sets, and they had no answers for Amanda Villanueva and Paat in the second set as Adamson equalized.

It was Galanza’s turn to take the spotlight as she terrorized the UE defense in the third set, and by the fourth set, Adamson’s offense was humming while the Lady Warriors completely fell apart.

Paat was named the Player of the Game after scoring 13 points on eight attacks, four blocks, and one service ace.

The loss drops UE to 0-5 this season, while the Lady Falcons now have a 3-2 record.
